Congratulations to our Global Studies Program Award Winners!

Last week three graduating Global Studies students were recognised at the CAHSS Student Award Reception for their exemplary work in academics, research, and service. Warmest congratulations goes out to these three and their hard work during their time here in Global Studies! 


Outstanding Scholar:  The best overall student, based on academic performance:  Hannah Jang

As a Global Studies major, Hannah has focused on International Affairs At UMBC Hannah has been able to study a wide variety of courses and interact with different individuals across campus and in the community to further her understanding of an increasingly global world. Upon graduation, she hopes to continue this journey by pursuing law.

 

 

 

Outstanding Researcher:  The student with the best performance in a research project: Gabriela Salas

Gabi is a current senior Sondheim Public Affairs Scholar double majoring in Global Studies and Gender and Women's Studies as well as minoring in International Politics. She is a semi-finalist for a Fulbright research grant and plans on attending graduate school starting in Fall of 2020 in order to earn a PhD in Sociology.

Outstanding  Leader:  The student with the best performance in the area of service: Gurleen Kaur Ahuja

Graduating with a major in Global Studies and a Spanish Certificate, Gurleen has been involved in recruiting students for an organization called Students Helping Honduras, which helps eliminate poverty and violence through accessible education. Additionally, she uses her passion for music to spread the word of social justice outside of school through her small business, gurl
